More than two decades ago, Mertha E. Carter realized the need for a local, well managed general contracting firm that customers could count on for their building and landscaping needs.  As soon as Carter’s Contracting Services Inc. was founded by the Carter family, Mertha knew she had found a niche and expanded from that small niche to what it the company has become today.  Mertha brought along with her a strong construction family and three dynamic sons, all heavily involved in the day to day operations of the ever expanding construction business. Under the skillful direction of Mertha Carter, the business grew from the small landscaping and site work company it was then, to the highly productive and diversified construction company we see today.  Today, CCSI has the third generation of the Carter family becoming more heavily involved each day. Now, with dozens of construction projects successfully completed, and with the ever increasing volume of new residents moving to our area, Carter’s Contracting is poised to provide a wide array of building services, such as, marine and storm drainage construction, military installations, municipal government, infrastructure, marine, dredge disposal area maintenance, levee construction and maintenance, and building repairs. We have experienced orchestrated internal growth due to our long term business plan.  We will continue to provide superior construction services to federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as services in the private sector.

Today, CCSI focuses on the acquisition and execution of government and private construction projects throughout the United States.  CCSI has worked as far north as Sewickley, PA, and as far south as Homestead, Florida.

With the exceptional performance history and the seasoned experience of working with a wide variety of governmental agencies,CCSI has the experience to bring each part of a construction team together.  CCSI has experienced orchestrated internal growth true to our long term business plan.  We will continue to provide superior construction services to federal, state and local government agencies, as well as private organizations.

CCSI has been very successful in the governmental construction sector and has been twice awarded the Women-Owned 

Small Business Contractor of the Year award. Both awards were presented by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and National Resources Conservation Service for exemplary performance.  Due to CCSI’s excellent reputation for completing construction projects, on schedule and according to contract documents, we have also received numerous well deserved letters of recommendation from government agencies throughout the Southeastern United States.
